Maintain Your Dental Health

Regular teeth cleanings and checkups are essential for preserving your overall oral health, including not only your teeth but also your gums and the entire mouth. During the cleaning process, plaque, tartar, and bacteria that contribute to decay, gum disease, and bad breath are removed. Professional cleanings reach areas that brushing and flossing at home may miss, ensuring a more thorough clean. Your hygienist and dentist will also examine your mouth to detect early signs of any problems, allowing you to address them before they turn into larger, more costly issues.

In addition to health benefits, regular cleanings can naturally brighten your smile, without the need for bleaching treatments.

The key benefits of routine teeth cleaning include:

  • Removal of plaque, the sticky bacteria that can weaken enamel.
  • Elimination of tartar build-up, which can lead to gum disease.
  • Removal of stains caused by food, drink, or tobacco.
  • Evaluation for early signs of gum recession, cracks, or other dental issues.

What Happens During a Teeth Cleaning Procedure?

Gum Health

Your gums are a critical component in maintaining the health of your teeth and smile. During the cleaning, we will closely examine your gums, teeth, and the entire mouth, paying particular attention to areas around the gumline. Healthy gums are essential to your oral well-being, and we will ensure that your gums are free from infection, inflammation, or early signs of gum disease. Our focus is on giving you a complete picture of your oral health and helping you maintain it.

Plaque & Tartar Removal

Plaque naturally forms on your teeth but, when left untreated, it can harden into tartar, making it more difficult to remove. Plaque and tartar are the leading causes of tooth decay and gum disease. During your appointment, our hygienist will carefully remove the build-up from your teeth using specialized tools, paying extra attention to hard-to-reach areas. After removing the tartar, your teeth will be polished to eliminate stains caused by food, beverages, and daily wear, leaving your smile clean and refreshed.

Dentist Exam

Following your cleaning, the dentist will conduct a thorough exam to assess the condition of your teeth and gums. They will look for any signs of cavities, gum disease, or other issues that may require attention. The dentist may suggest additional treatments or give personalized advice on improving your oral care routine. We encourage you to share any concerns or ask questions about your dental health. Our team is dedicated to providing the best care and ensuring your comfort throughout the process.

Cost of Teeth Cleaning in Oakdale

The cost of teeth cleaning varies depending on several factors specific to your dental health. When determining the price, we take into account the following:
  1. Your Current Oral Health: The condition of your teeth and gums affects the time and effort required for cleaning.
  2. The Need for X-rays: If new x-rays are necessary to assess your oral health, this may influence the total cost.
  3. Time Required by the Dental Team: The complexity of your cleaning procedure may require more time with the hygienist, particularly if there are areas that need special attention..
  4. Equipment and Supplies: Certain treatments or tools may be necessary for a more thorough cleaning.

These regular check-ups are essential for preventing more extensive dental treatments down the road, reducing the risk of dental pain, and maintaining your overall health. Our goal is to provide proactive care that addresses any issues early on, keeping your smile healthy and bright for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most dental professionals recommend scheduling teeth cleanings every six months to maintain good oral health. However, some individuals may need more frequent cleanings depending on their specific dental health needs. Those with certain conditions like gum disease or a tendency to accumulate plaque quickly may require cleanings more often, while individuals with excellent oral health may not need cleanings as frequently.

Teeth cleaning is generally not painful. The procedure is usually quick and comfortable, with dental hygienists using specialized tools to remove plaque and tartar gently. If you experience any discomfort or sensitivity during the cleaning, it’s important to let your hygienist know so they can adjust their technique and make you more comfortable.

Teeth cleaning is essential for preventing tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. It helps remove plaque and tartar, which contribute to cavities and gingivitis. Regular cleanings also allow your dentist or hygienist to identify early signs of potential dental issues, such as cavities or gum disease, and address them before they become serious.

The typical duration of a teeth cleaning appointment is between 30 minutes to an hour. The exact time may vary depending on your oral health and the amount of plaque or tartar buildup. If additional treatments or examinations are needed, the appointment may take longer.

Dental insurance typically covers routine teeth cleanings as part of preventive care. Most plans include cleanings as a covered benefit, but coverage can vary by provider and policy. It’s a good idea to check with your dental insurance provider to confirm what is covered and if there are any out-of-pocket costs associated with the cleaning.

My husband had a great experience here. He has been to many dental offices and has always had pain during the procedure. Thanks to Dr. Anderson and Shayla he felt nothing at all through both an extraction and a root canal. Our family would very much recommend these guys and will always be receiving our dental work here!

Our family made the switch to All Family Dental when the dental office that we had been going to for over 20 years said that the next available appointment was 10 months away! Actually, they did us a favor because we couldn’t be happier with All Family Dental. Not only are they very accommodating with appointment times, but the entire staff is personable and technically top notch!
